It’s 2183 and there’s an intergalactic space race. You look up and this space cowboy casually looks you in the face and says “get in my ship!” You’re not sure what’s going on but you buckle in and blast off and this song starts playing. He looks at you and yells “strap in” over the sound of the rockets which seems like overkill initially (because you’re already buckled in) but then the ship goes into hyperspace and you’re in every dimension at once and time and space get confused and you’re alive and dead and everything at once and then there’s just white.
Hi Nelson. RÜFÜS (du sol - I put that in brackets because they were forced to change their name after being threatened with legal action by some company in the States and so I don’t think they feel strongly about the du sol bit) have got a new album out. Solace. Sounds like their old stuff but that was good so what’s wrong with that? Listening to it now so will edit this post with some further thoughts in a bit.
Hi Nelson. Alright, I’ve had a generous week with this album now and the vibes are strong. For me, RÜFÜS is at their best with their understated, deep jams. This album’s autotune-esque eponymous number #8 Solace conjures some Bon Iver feels that satisfy that requirement. Underwater also calls back to the original sound of This Summer – one of their breakthrough hits. The only thing I don’t like about their new album is that they had to change their name. Otherwise, 12/10.
Associations of fats and carbohydrate intake with cardiovascular disease and mortality in 18 countries from five continents (PURE): a prospective cohort study.
High carbohydrate intake (>60% of energy) was associated with an adverse impact on total mortality and non-cardiovascular disease mortality
Higher fat intake (including saturated and unsaturated fatty acids), however, was associated with lower risk of total mortality, non-cardiovascular disease mortality and stroke
“The addition of ultrasonography and laboratory tests increased rheumatologists’ diagnostic accuracy for RA from 27 to 70%.”
“Experienced rheumatologists, if deprived of information on prior external imaging and laboratory workup by blinding, were not able to correctly classify the majority of patients presenting with polyarthralgia or arthritis symptoms for inpatient workup, relying only on a brief symptom-focused medical history and physical examination.”
“The ability of rheumatologists blinded to prior workup to diagnose rheumatoid arthritis only by clinical assessment: a cross-sectional study.” Article in Rheumatology, Volume 57, Issue 9, 1 September 2018.
I use Omnigraffle for all my medical diagrams and vector drawings. This one – about the role of C1 inhibitor deficiency in the pathogenesis of hereditary angioedema – is a pretty simple example.
So I guess Squarespace is alright. Shout out to Radiotopia for 2 years’ worth of heavy podcast advertising, all but forcing my hand to use it for my personal site. Will start populating it with some content in the next few days.
